Bookabach New Zealand

Holiday homes have a special place in the Kiwi psyche. In fact Kiwis even have a special name for them:  “the bach” - pronounced “batch” and derived from “bachelor”  - hence the name Bookabach.

Since going live in October 2000 Bookabach has built one of New Zealand’s largest communities of holiday home owners and renters.

In 2007 the New Zealand Automobile Association (NZAA) acquired a stake in Bookabach and the company now benefits from the wide reach and extensive marketing resources of the NZAA.  Over 1 million New Zealanders are AA members.

Bookabach is a well recognized and trusted brand in private accommodation in New Zealand.  Put simply, it is where Kiwis (and a fair number of inbound tourists)  go to find and rent a holiday home in New Zealand.

Bookastay Australia

Bookastay Australia was launched in 2011 by the same team who run Bookabach New Zealand.  While no New Zealand company has ever succeeded in Australia by bleating on about how well they’ve done in New Zealand, we do believe we have something to offer across the ditch.  However, we won’t be spending time trying to get Aussies to adopt the term “bach”.

In the short term, having been around for 10 years, we have a large New Zealand membership base to market to. Kiwis make over 1 million trips a year to Australia.  (And not all end up staying!)

We believe that marketing the Australian private accommodation segment to New Zealanders in the same way we do in domestically opens up new market opportunities for holiday home operators in Australia.

Longer term we are committed to growing Bookastay Australia, and marketing it domestically and across the Bookastay network.

Bookastay Pacific Islands

Also launched in 2011, Bookastay Pacifica offers the free and independent traveller the opportunity to stay at private or resort accommodation across the Pacific. Given that New Zealanders and Australians represent the lion’s share of this type of traveller in the pacific, it’s a great opportunity for accommodation operators to go direct, promote their properties, and leverage the trusted Bookabach brand (in NZ).
